Breakthrough in Groundwater Treatment for Environmental Preservation: Israel Makes Significant Step in Water Purification
Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced a significant step in preserving water sources and addressing groundwater pollution in the Ramat Hasharon area.
Key Developments:
- Project Winner: GES Blue Gen won the tender for constructing and operating a groundbreaking facility to treat contaminated groundwater in the Ramat Hasharon Industrial Area.
- Unique Infections: The facility is designed to address “unique infections” resulting from defense industry activities, marking the first of its kind in Israel.
- Treatment Capacity: The facility will treat around 5.5 million cubic meters of contaminated water annually over 25 years. This water, sourced from pollution centers in the complex, aims to halt the spread of pollution and minimize its impact.
- Quality Improvement: The treated water will meet quality standards for unlimited use, contributing to the “Redemption of the Yarkon” project, aiming to restore the Yarkon Stream and its surrounding ecosystem.
- Environmental Impact: The project is a major milestone in the Water Authority’s rehabilitation plan, essential for combating severe groundwater pollution that led to the closure of drinking water wells in Ramat Hasharon and parts of Tel Aviv and Herzliya.
This initiative marks a crucial effort toward environmental sustainability and the protection of vital water resources.
