Indian Defence Minister Emphasizes Innovation and Modernization at ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ Event
During the military and combat display event ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ organized at Lucknow Cantonment as part of the 76th Army Day celebrations, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the Indian military’s focus on tradition alongside positive changes through innovations and ideas. The event showcased modern weapons and technologies powered by drones and artificial intelligence, emphasizing the military’s commitment to staying technologically advanced.
Attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande, and other senior military personnel, the display included demonstrations of drone capabilities in combat roles, static displays of Akash Missiles, K9 Vajra, Anti-Drone equipment, Bofors guns, artillery weapons systems, and other technology used by the Indian Army.
Rajnath Singh spoke about the unique character of an Indian soldier, rooted in the cultural values of the country, emphasizing patriotism, courage, humanity, and loyalty towards the Indian Constitution as essential qualities. He stressed that tradition should not be static but should evolve with changing times.
The Defence Minister praised the decision to organize Army/Navy/Air Force Day celebrations outside Delhi, bringing the military progress and traditions closer to the people. He highlighted the ongoing modernization efforts, including the use of drones, artificial intelligence, and the growing role of women in the Armed Forces.
Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that events like ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ would inspire youth to join the Armed Forces, showcasing the military’s dedication and commitment to protecting the nation. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of ex-servicemen, citing initiatives like the ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme and efforts to provide healthcare and re-employment opportunities.
