Sharad-Pawar Criticizes BJPs Unfulfilled Promises and Asserts Unfavorable Political Landscape Ahead of Lok Sabha Polls
Sharad Pawar, the founder of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), expressed his views on the current political scenario in India, asserting that it is not favorable for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Dismissing the BJP’s claim of securing over 400 seats, Pawar highlighted that the party is currently not in power in several states.
Speaking at an NCP conclave in Shirdi, located in the Ahmednagar district of western Maharashtra, Pawar criticized the BJP for failing to fulfill its promises made after coming to power in 2014. He accused the party of announcing various programs and assurances but not implementing them, characterizing it as a betrayal of the people’s trust.
Pawar, a former Union minister and a key member of the opposition INDIA alliance, emphasized that people are increasingly realizing the unfulfilled promises of the BJP. He confidently stated that the overall political landscape in the country is not conducive to the BJP’s success.
Referring to the BJP’s ambitious goal of winning over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha, Pawar pointed out that the party is currently out of power in several states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Delhi, Punjab, West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pawar highlighted unfulfilled assurances related to doubling farmers’ income by 2022 and providing ‘pucca’ houses for those without in urban areas. He also criticized the unmet target of achieving a $5 trillion economy by 2024-25, stating that India is far from reaching that goal.
Pawar accused the Prime Minister of making guarantees that remain unfulfilled, noting that this pattern has been observed multiple times. He further addressed the concerns of the younger generation, expressing their unease due to rising unemployment and referencing the December 13 Parliament security breach, where opposition members were suspended for seeking answers from the government.
