Delhi Court Grants Bihar Deputy Chief Minister’s Overseas Travel Request
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, an accused in a railways land-for-job scam, has been granted permission by a Delhi court to travel abroad from January 6 to 18, 2024.
Special Judge Vishal Gogne from Rouse Avenue court approved Yadav’s plea for an official visit to Australia and New Zealand. However, the court has mandated a deposit of Rs 25 lakh as a condition.
Yadav’s visit abroad is linked to the Six-lane Ganga Bridge Project, focusing on roads and bridges, financed by the Asian Development Bank and the State Government of Bihar.
His proposed travel plans involve leading a delegation comprising four senior government officials and 16 engineers from Bihar’s Road Construction Department.
While the court allowed a one-year renewal of Yadav’s passport, his legal counsel requested an extension of 10 years due to his frequent international commitments.
The counsel emphasized the inconvenience caused by the short-term renewal, citing the necessity for continuous visits to various countries.
