Sachin Pilot Criticizes Continuous Suspension of Opposition MPs
Congress leader Sachin Pilot expressed concern over the repeated suspension of Opposition MPs for seeking clarification regarding the recent security breach in Parliament, considering it a worrisome indicator for the state of democracy.
He emphasized that MPs have the right to seek clarity on sensitive issues and explore the depth of reality.
Addressing reporters in Tonk, Pilot highlighted the significance of MPs seeking answers on such sensitive matters.
He stressed that the consistent suspension of MPs for seeking answers is detrimental to the democratic process, signaling an unhealthy trend in the functioning of democracy.
Outside the Rajasthan Assembly, after the oath-taking ceremony of newly-elected MLAs, Sachin Pilot condemned the persistent suspension of Parliament members and emphasized that such actions undermine the essence of democracy.
He lamented the increasing trend of suspensions and its adverse impact on democratic values.
As a symbolic protest, Sachin Pilot and Congress MLAs wore black bands on their hands during the oath-taking ceremony in the Rajasthan Assembly.
Over 140 Opposition MPs have faced suspension from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in recent times due to disruptions during proceedings.
The Opposition MPs have been consistently demanding discussions regarding the December 13 Parliament security breach and have urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to provide a statement on the issue.
