India and Burundi Hold Second Foreign Office Consultations (FOC)
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) disclosed that the second Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between India and Burundi took place in Bujumbura, as announced on Tuesday.
The Indian delegation, led by Puneet R Kundal, Additional Secretary (East and Southern Africa), engaged with Ambassador Ernest Niyokindi, Director General of Bilateral Relations in Burundi’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In this session, both delegations extensively reviewed the entire spectrum of their bilateral relations.
Discussions spanned political exchanges, development partnerships, trade and economic matters, consular issues, and cooperation in diverse domains such as agriculture, education, health, digital technology, and renewable energy, among others, as outlined in an MEA press release.
The meeting saw an agreement to escalate and broaden collaboration across various sectors to fortify their relationship. Additionally, discussions also encompassed shared interests in multilateral issues, including cooperation within the United Nations.
The commitment to maintain ongoing engagement at official and political levels was reinforced, emphasizing the necessity for joint institutional mechanisms to perpetuate a vibrant and mutually beneficial partnership, according to the MEA statement.
The MEA also confirmed mutual agreement to schedule the next round of consultations in New Delhi, marking a continuation of the bilateral engagement between the two nations.
