United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has emerged as a steadfast advocate for India’s inclusion in the permanent seat of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), according to his spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric. India’s Call for Geographical and Developmental Diversity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the need for reforms at the BRICS Summit, emphasizing India’s commitment to the cause. The joint statement issued by BRICS nations called for UNSC reforms and backed the aspirations of emerging and developing countries like India, Brazil, and South Africa. The statement emphasized the urgency of making the UNSC more democratic, representative, effective, and efficient, with increased representation for developing nations.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is set to participate in the upcoming G20 Summit in Delhi, expressing his anticipation of contributing under India’s leadership. The G20’s theme, “One Family, One Planet, One Earth,” holds significant importance in a multipolar world. Guterres stressed that addressing global issues requires combatting fragmentation, and the G20 has a unique opportunity to achieve this goal. He expects substantial outcomes from the G20, which represents the world’s 20 leading economies.
