The Health Ministry in Gaza reported a staggering death toll of 471, a figure contested by Israel. An independent report by U.S. intelligence estimated the number of fatalities to be between 100 to 300.

Amidst these conflicting views, HRW emphasized the need for both Israeli and Gaza authorities to release further evidence for a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
