Historic Win: Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios Crowned Miss Universe 2023
In a landmark victory, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua was crowned Miss Universe 2023, marking the first time a Nicaraguan contestant has won the prestigious title. The 72nd edition of the Miss Universe pageant, hosted in El Salvador, saw Palacios receiving the crown and sash from the previous titleholder, R’Bonney Gabriel from the United States.
A Journey of Grace and Strength
At 23, Palacios stood out among 84 contestants in a week-long series of competitions, which included showcases in swimsuits, evening gowns, and traditional dresses. Embodying qualities of humility and gratitude, Palacios left a lasting impression on the jury and audience alike. Her final answer, highlighting the importance of equal pay and the limitless potential of women, resonated strongly with the event’s global audience.
Celebrating Diversity on the Global Stage
The pageant celebrated diversity and talent from around the world, with Thailand’s Anntonia Porsild and Australia’s Moraya Wilson completing the top three. The event, set against the backdrop of the beautifully renovated Adolfo Pineda National Gymnasium in San Salvador, provided a vibrant stage for the participants to showcase their cultures and viewpoints.
Looking Ahead: Miss Celebrating Diversity on the Global Stage in Mexico
With the successful conclusion of this year’s event, attended by notable figures including El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, the organizers announced that the next edition of the Miss Universe pageant will be held in Mexico, continuing the tradition of celebrating beauty and diversity on an international platform.
