Former US President Barack Obama Criticises Trump’s Iran War, Blames Conflict for Rising Prices Across US

WASHINGTON, October 25, 2026 [VoM News]: Lashing with heavy criticism on Former US President Barack Obama stated that the Trump’s war on Iran, lead to rising oil, diesel and consumer prices ahead of the US midterm elections.

He made these remarks during addressing a campaign rally in Ohio.

Obama stated that diplomacy had been more effective in preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons than military action.

He referred to the 2015 nuclear agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), under which Iran agreed to limit uranium enrichment and accept international inspections in return for sanctions relief.

“ Iran didn’t have nuclear weapons because I had put a deal in place that everybody acknowledged kept them from getting nukes,” Obama said, adding that he had achieved the objective through diplomacy rather than missile strikes.

Obama also highlighted the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments, saying Iran now had significant leverage over the passage.

“This is the reason why the price of oil is up. This is the reason why the price of diesel is up. This is the reason why the price of just about everything is up,” he said.

Trump withdrew the United States from the nuclear agreement in 2018 during his first term, arguing that the deal was inadequate. Obama’s remarks renewed criticism of the administration’s approach to Iran as economic pressures remain a central concern for American voters.
