External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar engaged in a significant meeting with the Italian Minister of Enterprise, Adolfo Urso, in the splendid backdrop of Rome, Italy. These discussions focused on deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries and addressed key international issues, including the situation in West Asia, the Ukraine conflict, and the Indo-Pacific.
EAM Jaishankar’s interactions with Italian senate members, as well as his address to the Joint Session of the Senate’s External Affairs and Defence Commission, underscored the importance of diplomatic engagement. He addressed the global challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, acknowledging the trauma it inflicted on the global economy. Jaishankar also expressed his concerns regarding the escalation of the Israel-Hamas conflict, emphasizing the need to combat terrorism while seeking a sustainable solution to the issue of Palestine.
