Pakistan: PTI Seeks Permission for Public Gatherings in Punjab

In the wake of the announcement of general elections in Pakistan, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted requests for permission to hold public gatherings in various districts of Punjab. ARY News, a well-known Pakistani news channel, reported on this development.

    PTI’s Public Gathering Requests

The PTI has officially sought approval for public gatherings in Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Sheikhupura, three significant districts in the Punjab region. According to sources familiar with the matter, the PTI has submitted pleas to the deputy commissioners of these districts, requesting permission to hold these gatherings.

    Upcoming PTI Political Demonstrations

As per the information provided by ARY News, the PTI is gearing up to demonstrate its political influence in these districts on specific dates. The PTI plans to hold public gatherings in Gujranwala on November 10, Sialkot on November 17, and Sheikhupura on November 19.

    ECP’s Notification and Presidential Consultation

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially issued a notification announcing the general elections, which are scheduled to take place on February 8. This decision followed a consensus reached between the ECP and President Arif Alvi.

An important consultative meeting between President Alvi and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja was conducted at the Presidency, in response to the Supreme Court’s directives. During the Supreme Court’s proceedings on the pleas for timely elections in Pakistan, the ECP’s lawyer informed the court that the polls would be held on February 11.

In light of this, the Supreme Court ordered the ECP to consult with the president to finalize the election date, which is now confirmed for February 8 and cannot be changed or delayed.
