BREAKING: 6 Killed in Guwahati-Sonapur Highway Crash

GUWAHATI, August 31 [VoM News]: The driver and five passengers of a 26-seater passenger traveller lost their lives and several others were injured in a head-on collision between the vehicle and a truck on the National Highway near Nalagedera in the Guwahati-Sonapur region of Assam on Saturday evening.

Sources revealed to VoM News the traveller was heading toward Guwahati from Nagaon, when the tragedy struck following a tyre burst on the NH. Eyewitness accounts and preliminary reports suggest the traveller hit a pothole, leading to an outburst of its tyre and subsequent loss of control.

Consequently, the vehicle jumped over the road divider and violently collided with a truck plying on the opposite lane. Both vehicles were left in a shattered state after the collision.

The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, according to reports. Khetri Police rushed to the accident site and engaged in the ongoing rescue efforts. Details of those deceased are yet to be received.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has been initiated by the police.
