BREAKING: 4 Armed Men Killed in Meghalaya Police Encounter

SHILLONG, Meghalaya, August 31 [VoM News]. Officials confirmed that 4 armed individuals were killed in an encounter with police during a security checkpoint operation in the East Garo Hills of Meghalaya during the early morning on Monday.

Police were involved in a naka-checking operation in the Songsak area near acheckpoint where at around 4 in the morning, alleged offendersopened fireat police officials as they attempted to move toward it for a check-up.

A retaliatory fire by the security personnel killed all four individuals during the armed encounter. Officials said no names were available and the police are striving to confirm their identities as well as their possible involvement in different other cases.

Swapnil Pawar SP of the district explained how important identifying the armed intruders was and their history would be analyzed to investigate previous cases.

Security personnel are trying to ascertain the chain of events before the incident took place. The police are analyzing their involvement or any connections with a case that happened on the 25th of August, at a place called Tapra on the border region.

The police haven’t independently confirmed their any relation with reportedcases but the inquiry is ongoing.
