These remarks were made by Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam following the statement of Hasina that she would return and surrender before the tribunal by December.

Aminul Islam stated if Hasina returns under the extradition treaty, she would not have the option of surrendering before the court.

He further added if she remains under the Indian government’s control, she can either be handed over to Bangladesh under the extradition treaty or be pushed back.

Last year, Bangladeshi International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) had sentenced Hasina to death in absentia in a case related to alleged crimes against humanity, alongwith other multiple cases following her removal from power during the 2024 mass uprising.

He gave a crystall clear warning to Sheikh Hasina to avoid creating further instability in the country and urged the public to believe in the judicial process.
