171 Drug Dealers Arrested in Baramulla, 95 Cases Registered in 2024
Continuing the war against drugs, the Baramulla police registered 95 cases in the district during the first five months of this year and arrested 171 drug dealers, including 44 hardened drug dealers, and recovered crores from their custody. Drugs worth Rs.
A police spokesman said that the Baramulla police registered 95 cases and arrested 171 drug dealers during various operations from January to May this year. He said that 127 of those arrested were arrested under NDPS Act while 44 were arrested under PTI/NDPS/PSA. He said that during this time 15 vehicles were confiscated from drug dealers while 14 lakh 50 thousand rupees were recovered in cash. The spokesman said that during the first five months of this year, a total of 51.62 crore worth of narcotics were recovered from the custody of the arrested drug dealers.
While providing the details of the confiscated narcotics, he said that 8.262 kg of brown sugar whose black market value is Rs. 50.73 crores, 661 grams of heroin whose black market value is Rs. 85. 93 lakhs, 4.086 kg hashish worth Rs 32.68 lakhs in the black market, 62.60 kgs of Bhang powder worth Rs 41.77 lakhs in the black market, 1020 tablets of Spasmopraxion Plus with a market value of Rs 70 thousand and 71 syrups of Codeine Phosphate with a market value of Rs 19,000 were seized. It is noteworthy that the Baramulla police registered 264 cases against drug dealers and arrested 464 drug dealers during the year 2023.
