During road construction excavation in the Kacharaila area of Akhnoor district, a significant quantity of rusted arms and ammunition was unearthed, as reported by a senior official.

Upon receiving the information, the police promptly responded to the site on Saturday, and subsequently, Army personnel were summoned, as confirmed by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Akhnoor, Mohan Sharma.

Visuals from the scene depict Army personnel disposing of the discovered ammunition, comprising numerous mortar shells, as well as LMG and SLR rounds.In a separate incident, a substantial cache of warlike stores was uncovered on December 15 and 16 in the Thanamadi area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

This discovery was the outcome of a sustained joint operation involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the challenging weather conditions and heavy snow of the Dadruni area near Darhal.

The recovered items, a testament to the relentless efforts in the aftermath of heightened counter-terrorism activities, include pistols, magazines loaded with ammunition, hand grenades, and various administrative materials.

This successful operation, executed amidst adverse weather conditions, signifies a crucial milestone in thwarting potential threats posed by anti-national elements.
