According to Nikkei Asia, James Gilmore, former US ambassador to the OSCE, reassured that the US will stand by Taiwan against China, regardless of the US presidential election outcome. Amid global debates over potential isolationism under Trump’s “America First” slogan, Gilmore debunked notions of US unreliability, terming them deliberate lies propagated by adversaries.

Speaking at a forum in Taipei, Gilmore reiterated Washington’s unwavering commitment to Taiwan, suggesting increased support under a potential second Trump presidency. He attributed tensions in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea to President Xi’s aggression, criticizing China’s belligerence.
