US and Russian Envoys Clash at UN Security Council Over Gaza

Tensions flared at the UN Security Council as US and Russian representatives clashed over the situation in Gaza.

Russian envoy Vassily Nebenzia accused “Western colleagues” of enabling Israel to use hunger as a weapon of war, claiming the US vetoed UN attempts for a ceasefire preventing “mass starvation” in Gaza.

Nebenzia held Washington responsible for civilian casualties, which he estimated near 30,000.

In response, US deputy ambassador Robert Wood pointed to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and accused Russia of creating, not resolving, such crises.
