An undertrial prisoner identified as Anil, accused of murdering his wife last July, was found dead by hanging in the bathroom of barrack number two at the central jail in Indore. The incident occurred on Monday, and Central Jail Superintendent Dr Alka Sonkar confirmed the tragic incident.

The deceased prisoner, Anil, reportedly hanged himself with a bedsheet provided by the jail authorities. Superintendent Sonkar revealed that the prisoner’s mental state seemed disturbed, and fellow inmates mentioned that he expressed concerns about never being released from jail. Anil had participated in a religious event organized within the jail premises on the day of the incident, indicating a sudden and unexpected turn of events.

Family Expresses Concerns and Worry

Family members of the deceased, when contacted, shared that Anil had been worried about whether he would be released from jail or not. The Superintendent mentioned that despite his participation in a religious ceremony, the prisoner’s mental distress may have stemmed from the gravity of the charges against him – the murder of his wife. However, no suicide note was found at the spot.
