Two New Degree Colleges Approved for Jammu; Marmat’s Long-Standing Demand Overlooked

Two New Degree Colleges Approved for Jammu; Marmat’s Long-Standing Demand Overlooked

Jammu Region to Get Two New Government Degree Colleges, Marmat’s Demand Still Unmet

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department has sanctioned the establishment of two new Government Degree Colleges (GDCs) in the Jammu region, as part of the ongoing expansion of educational facilities.

The newly approved colleges will be set up in Lamberi (Rajouri district) and Aghore (Jammu district), according to an official statement. The order mentions, “Approval is granted for the creation of two government degree colleges, subject to compliance with the conditions outlined in the Finance Department’s regulations.”

However, a notable omission in the decision is the long-pending demand for a degree college in Marmat, Doda, which has been a major request from around 50,000 residents. Despite this persistent demand, no plans for establishing a college in Marmat have been announced, leaving the area neglected.

Similarly, several other regions continue to be overlooked in the current wave of educational development, which shows non-seriousness of the authorities.
