At least six residential houses were damaged, and a fire-fighter was injured in two separate fire incidents in the Hawal and Rajbagh areas of Srinagar on Monday. Officials reported that four houses were affected in Hawal, while two were damaged in Rajbagh.

According to an official statement, the fires, which resulted from electric short circuits, caused significant structural damage. In Hawal, four double-storey houses were affected.

The roofing, including the attic portions, and the second floor of one house were damaged. The remaining property suffered indirect damage due to heat, smoke, and water.

In Rajbagh, the fire also originated from a short circuit. The roofing, attic, and first floor of a double-storey house were damaged.

Additionally, one side of the wooden eaves and the windows of a three-storey house were partially damaged. Similar to the incident in Hawal, the rest of the property in Rajbagh sustained indirect damage from heat, smoke, and water.

During the firefighting operation in Rajbagh, Javaid Ahmad Magray, a fire-fighter, was injured and subsequently taken to a health center for treatment.

The incidents highlight the importance of ensuring electrical safety in residential areas to prevent such devastating occurrences. The authorities are likely to investigate further to prevent future incidents.
