A devastating accident in Assam’s Golaghat district claimed the lives of at least 12 individuals and left 25 others injured after a bus collided with a truck on Wednesday morning.

According to Golaghat district’s Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh, the collision occurred around 5 am in the Balijan area near Dergaon. The bus, transporting a team from Kamarbandha in Golaghat to Tilinga Mandir, collided with a truck traveling from Jorhat’s direction.

“Ten bodies were recovered from the accident site and taken to Dergaon CHC. Additionally, 27 injured individuals were referred to Jorhat Medical College & Hospital, where two more people succumbed to their injuries,” stated Rajen Singh.

The immediate aftermath saw local residents rush to the scene, engaging in rescue efforts to assist the victims. As investigations continue, Singh emphasized that law enforcement will proceed accordingly.
