TC General Secretary’s Wife Grilled for Over 8 Hours by ED
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) intensified its ongoing probe into the alleged cash-for-jobs scam by subjecting Rujira, the wife of Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, to an extensive interrogation that lasted for over eight hours on a Wednesday. An ED official reported that this grilling session was a crucial step in their investigation.
In-Depth Inquiry into Job Scam Allegations
The questioning took place at the ED’s office located within the Central Government Office Complex in the Salt Lake area, commencing at 11 am and concluding at 7.35 pm. During this extensive interview, the ED probed Rujira on the basis of their findings related to the jobs scam. Specifically, they inquired about the roles played by the directors of two companies allegedly involved in the scam. Notably, Rujira herself held a significant position in both of these companies at one point in time, making her a person of interest in this investigation.
Raids on Rice Mills Unearth Money Trail
Simultaneously, the investigative body conducted search operations at various rice mills and a few shops in several locations across West Bengal’s Nadia district. These operations were carried out in connection with their ongoing probe into the alleged irregularities associated with the cash-for-jobs scandal. In the wake of these raids, personnel from central forces have been stationed to guard the rice mills in Shantipur, Dhubulia, Ranaghat, and Krishnanagar, where the search operations are currently underway.
Unveiling the Financial Web
It has been revealed that a substantial amount of the money acquired through the jobs scam was strategically invested in these rice mills. The ED possesses documents substantiating this claim, further emphasizing the significance of the raids that unfolded on this particular day. These actions are a clear reflection of the ED’s commitment to unraveling the intricate financial web woven around the cash-for-jobs scandal.
