SRINAGAR, AUGUST 17: Amid the rise of digital media and a decline in traditional book reading, Srinagar is hosting the inaugural ‘Chinar Book Festival’ at SKICC to foster a love for books among the youth. Running for a week, this festival aims to reinvigorate the reading culture through a variety of engaging activities.
The festival features book displays, literary sessions, and interactive workshops specifically designed to rekindle interest in reading.
For younger audiences, a dedicated Children’s Corner will offer storytelling sessions and creative workshops, providing a fun and educational experience.
Adding to the festival’s appeal, a significant Photo Exhibition will showcase visual themes such as ‘Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh Through the Ages,’ ‘25 Years of Kargil Vijay Diwas,’ and ‘National Space Day,’ offering insights into the region’s rich history and heritage.
A major draw of the festival is the participation of over 1,000 publishers across multiple languages including Hindi, Urdu, Kashmiri, Dogri, and English. Visitors can explore more than 200 book stalls, making it a vibrant marketplace for literary enthusiasts.
Workshops on Creative Writing, Calligraphy, Storytelling, and Emotional Intelligence will provide valuable skills and creative inspiration.
Additionally, symposiums on topics such as Careers in Civil Services, Empathy Circles, and the Art of Conversation will offer practical insights and guidance.
The Chinar Book Festival is set to be a unique platform for celebrating literature and nurturing a lifelong reading habit among the younger generation.
