Srinagar Girl Secures Top Spot in JK Judicial Exam
Tasneem Kawoos, a resident of Srinagar in central Kashmir, has achieved a remarkable feat by emerging as the top scorer in the 2023 Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Judicial) Examination. Out of 208 candidates, Kawoos secured an impressive 628 marks, reflecting her dedication and academic prowess.
In an interview with Bar and Bench, Kawoos, who is currently pursuing her LL M at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), reflected on the changing dynamics of the examination. She noted a noticeable shift towards favoring analytical skills over rote memorization. According to her, understanding legal issues and laws holds more significance than merely memorizing provisions.

Kawoos stressed the importance of staying updated with legal developments, advocating for a disciplined study routine and efficient time management through the utilization of legal journals. She highlighted the value of legal journals, which provide condensed forms of judgments in the form of headnotes and short notes, as instrumental in her preparation.

In addition to her achievement in the Civil Services (Judicial) Examination, Kawoos secured the 8th rank in the Prosecuting Officer (PO) examination conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission. This further solidifies her position as a standout performer in the legal arena.
