Snow Closes Mughal and Srinagar-Kargil Roads, Travel Advisory for Key Passes
The Mughal Road and the Srinagar-Kargil road are currently inaccessible to traffic due to the accumulation of snow along the route. An official statement, as reported by Kashmir Scroll, emphasizes that this closure is a precautionary measure taken to ensure the safety of passengers. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to clear the roads of snow.
After a dry spell lasting for about a month, the Peer Ki Gali area in the Shopian district experienced a fresh bout of snowfall yesterday. In response to the changing weather conditions, the Meteorological Office has issued an advisory. The advisory warns of potential temporary closures in the higher reaches and vital passes, including Sinthan Pass, Mughal Road, Zojila, Sadhna, and Razdan Pass, spanning from January 28 to January 31. Travelers are urged to stay informed about the situation and exercise caution during this period.
