Security Situation Reviewed by IGP Kashmir at PCR Kashmir
On January 8th, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Kashmir, Shri VK Birdi-IPS, spearheaded a comprehensive security review meeting at PCR Kashmir to assess and enhance security measures throughout the valley.
Present at the meeting were notable officials such as DD IB Shri Nitin Tiwari-IPS, DIG CKR Srinagar Shri Sujit Kumar-IPS, and other key figures from various security agencies. Additionally, DIG NKR Shri Vivek Gupta-IPS & DIG SKR Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat-IPS, along with district SSPs/PDs, attended virtually. Representatives from the Army, BSF, CRPF, CISF, and SB also actively participated.
The meeting delved into the overall security scenario, with officers providing insights into current challenges and the strategies employed to address them. Discussions covered intelligence gathering, threat assessments, and emergency response protocols, especially concerning VIP visits and upcoming events such as Republic Day functions.
IGP Kashmir actively engaged with the officers, focusing on initiatives to maintain law and order and counter-terrorism within the valley. Emphasizing the need for continuous efforts and collaboration among different forces, he stressed the importance of strengthened coordination for seamless information sharing and joint operations. Additionally, he encouraged the exploration of innovative technologies to bolster existing security infrastructure and response capabilities.
The IGP urged officers to intensify anti-terrorism operations and take decisive action against individuals or organizations supporting anti-national activities. He specifically directed them to enhance joint patrolling, especially during nighttime, to thwart any potential terrorist movements.
Precision and coordination were highlighted as crucial elements during the meeting, with strategic measures outlined to address potential challenges and maintain the highest standards of security. Shri VK Birdi expressed confidence in the preparedness of the security forces and reassured the public of their commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment. He emphasized the significance of community support in maintaining peace and security in the valley.
