Sakhi Booths and Heatwave Preparations Ahead of Odisha Elections 2024

Special ‘Sakhi booths’ have been set up for the convenience of women voters in Ganjam district, Odisha, ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Ganjam Collector, Dibya Jyoti Parida, announced the preparations, stating that model polling stations have also been developed to meet all necessary criteria.
In addition to the ‘Sakhi booths,’ arrangements have been made to address heatwave conditions. Medical teams, equipped with necessary kits and guidelines, will be deployed, and polling stations will have heatstroke rooms for proper management. Paramedics will be on hand during the polling period to ensure the safety of voters.
Odisha is set to conduct its elections in four phases from May 13 to June 1, with vote counting scheduled for June 4. In the previous elections, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) secured a significant majority in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress trailed behind.
