Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi Lead Afghanistan to Victory Over Ireland in T20I Thriller
Afghanistan bounced back in style to secure a thrilling 10-run win over Ireland in the second T20I at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, leveling the series at 1-1. Skipper Rashid Khan and all-rounder Mohammad Nabi played pivotal roles in Afghanistan’s victory with influential performances.
Despite a shaky start, Afghanistan managed to post a competitive total of 152/9 on the scoreboard, thanks to Nabi’s blistering 59 and Rashid’s quickfire cameo of 25 runs from 13 balls. The Irish pace duo of Mark Adair and Joshua Little initially had Afghanistan reeling at 14/4, but Nabi and Rashid’s partnership resurrected the innings.

In response, Ireland got off to a flying start, courtesy of openers Andrew Balbirnie and skipper Paul Stirling. However, after Stirling’s dismissal, Rashid and Nabi wreaked havoc on Ireland’s middle order, picking up crucial wickets to dent their chase.
With Ireland reduced to 95/7 in the 16th over and the asking rate soaring, Afghanistan seemed to be in control. However, an unexpected comeback from Gareth Delany, who smashed 22 runs off Fazalhaq Farooqi’s 18th over, breathed life into the game.
Despite Farooqi’s tight bowling in the final over, Delany’s heroic efforts brought the equation down to 11 runs needed from 2 deliveries. However, Farooqi held his nerve, delivering a crucial dot ball and a perfect yorker to seal the win for Afghanistan.
