Chandigarh, Jul 28: In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police have dismantled an international drug network with the arrest of two individuals. The operation, which resulted in the seizure of over Rs 1 crore in cash, was led by the State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar.
The Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, announced the success of the intelligence-based operation on social media, emphasizing the arrest of two operatives working for foreign-based top drug smugglers Gurjant Singh Bholu and Kinderbir Singh, also known as Sunny Dyal. Yadav shared the news on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The meticulously planned operation targeted an organized crime syndicate, culminating in the seizure of significant assets linked to the drug network. The police recovered Rs 1.07 crore in drug money, a money counting machine, a car, and two mobile phones.
A case has been registered against the foreign handlers and their two operatives, marking a critical step in disrupting the organized drug trade. The arrest of these individuals and the seizure of their assets is seen as a major blow to the international drug smuggling operations impacting the region.
DGP Yadav commended the efforts of the State Special Operation Cell, highlighting the importance of intelligence in successful law enforcement operations.
