Political Turmoil Unfolds: PTI-Backed Haleem Adil Sheikh Challenges Election Outcome

In a significant turn of events, Haleem Adil Sheikh, an independent candidate supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has lodged a challenge against the election results for NA-238 in the Sindh High Court (SHC). The petition contends that Sheikh secured over 71,000 votes, as per Form 45, but discrepancies arose when the results were altered in Form 47, leading to the declaration of MQM-P candidate Sadiq Iftikhar as the winner.

Allegations of Result Manipulation and Urgent Court Intervention

Haleem Adil Sheikh, presenting his case before the SHC, asserted that the alteration in Form 47 led to the erroneous victory announcement for Sadiq Iftikhar. The petitioner urgently called upon the court to suspend the victory notification of MQM-P’s candidate, emphasizing the need for a thorough examination of the discrepancies.

PTI’s Uphill Battle: Setback in NA-238 Election

Previously, PTI-backed independent candidate Haleem Adil Sheikh faced defeat against MQM-P candidate Sadiq Iftikhar in NA-238 by a margin of 54,000 votes. The legal challenge now intensifies the political landscape, drawing attention to alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has, meanwhile, released unofficial results for 250 out of 265 NA seats. PTI-backed independent candidates lead with 99 seats, followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with 71 seats, and the Pakistan People’s Party securing 53 NA seats. MQM-P, IPP, and JUI have clinched 17, 2, and 2 NA seats, respectively, while PML-Q, MWM, PML-Z, and BNP secured victory on three, two, two, and two NA seats.
