In a continued effort to combat social crimes, Ganderbal police have arrested seven individuals involved in gambling activities. The arrests were made in two separate operations, and a significant amount of stake money, along with several bank cheques, was seized.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by SHO of Police Station Kangan conducted a raid at Akhal, Kangan, where five individuals were caught red-handed while gambling. The police seized Rs 5,600 in cash and a set of playing cards from the scene.

In a separate operation under the jurisdiction of Police Post Shadipora, a patrol team led by the in-charge of PP Shadipora apprehended two more gamblers at Rabitar.

The officers seized Rs 4,500 in cash, 12 J&K Bank cheques amounting to Rs 1,81,650, a blank cheque, and playing cards from their possession.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Patlo, Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, Faizan Jon, Muzamil Ahmad Khan, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, Ali Muhammad Dar, and Abdul Hameed Parray, all residents of different areas in Srinagar.

They have been taken into custody and are currently detained at their respective police stations.

The police have registered cases under relevant sections of law, and further investigations are underway to uncover more details and potentially apprehend others involved in these illegal activities.

The Ganderbal police’s swift action reflects their commitment to eradicating social crimes and maintaining law and order in the region.
