The Philippines summoned Beijing’s envoy to express strong protest over an alleged water cannon attack by the Chinese Coast Guard in the disputed South China Sea, reported Al Jazeera.
Details of the Incident
According to the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs, the aggressive actions near the Second Thomas Shoal led to injuries to three Filipino soldiers and severe damage to a Philippine vessel, the Unaizah May 4. The soldiers received treatment on board a coastguard escort ship.
