Islamabad, July 29 – In a notable instance of cross-border romance, 25-year-old Mehvish from Islamabad recently journeyed to Rajasthan to unite with her Indian husband, Rehman.

Their relationship, which started on social media, culminated in a marriage proposal on March 13, 2022, followed by a virtual wedding three days later.

The couple’s first formal marriage took place during Mehvish’s Umrah pilgrimage in Mecca in 2023. Previously, Mehvish was married to a Pakistani man from Lahore’s Badami Bagh for 12 years, with whom she has two sons aged 12 and 7.

Following their separation in 2018, Mehvish met Rehman, who was working as a transporter in Kuwait.

On July 25, Mehvish traveled from Islamabad to Lahore, crossed the Wagah border into India, and received a 45-day tourist visa after thorough checks by both Pakistani and Indian authorities.

She was welcomed by Rehman’s family and went to Pithisar village in Rajasthan’s Churu district.

This story adds to a series of cross-border love tales between India and Pakistan, including the recent high-profile cases of Seema Haider and Anju, who made similar journeys for love.

Another notable case involved Indian citizen Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was arrested for assisting his Pakistani wife, Iqra Jeewani, in entering India illegally.
