Pakistani Woman Crosses Border for Marriage in India

In a heartwarming cross-border love story, Javeria Khanum from Karachi, Pakistan, crossed over to India from the Wagah-Attari International Border to marry Sameer Khan, a resident of Kolkata. Their marriage, which had faced delays due to visa rejections and the Covid pandemic, is now set to be solemnized in January next year.

Joyful Reunion and Upcoming Wedding

Khanum, who received a 45-day visa after two unsuccessful attempts, was greeted with traditional ‘dhol’ beats by her fiancé and his family upon her arrival in Amritsar district. The couple shared their happiness with reporters at Attari, expressing relief and joy at the upcoming wedding after a five-year-long wait.

Love Blossoms and Overcomes Obstacles

Sameer Khan narrated how he fell for Khanum after seeing her photo on his mother’s phone in May 2018. Despite the challenges of visa rejections and the pandemic, their commitment remained steadfast. Khan, who studied in Germany, is grateful to the Indian Government for granting the visa and is excited about his friends from around the world attending the wedding.

A Flight to a New Beginning

The couple left Attari to catch a flight from Amritsar to Kolkata, marking the start of a new chapter in their lives. This international union exemplifies love transcending borders, cultures, and bureaucratic hurdles, culminating in a celebration of unity and joy.
