Owaisi Urges Modi to Show Solidarity with Gaza Amid Ongoing Conflict
Asaduddin Owaisi, the Chief of AIMIM, has made a passionate appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to demonstrate solidarity with the people of Gaza in the midst of an ongoing conflict that has resulted in thousands of casualties on both sides. Owaisi did not mince words, calling Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, a “devil” and a “tyrant” and describing the situation as a humanitarian crisis. He emphasized that the Palestinian issue is not limited to Muslims alone; it is a matter of global humanitarian concern.
Owaisi expressed deep concern for the plight of the people of Gaza, where approximately 1 million individuals have been left homeless. He criticized the global silence surrounding the issue and the one-sided portrayal of the conflict by the media. He also raised concerns about Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian territories, emphasizing the need to recognize the occupation and the atrocities committed.
Taking a subtle jab at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Owaisi highlighted his support for Palestine and wore both the Palestinian flag and the Indian Tricolour, asserting his commitment to the Palestinian cause. He underlined the importance of standing in solidarity with Palestine and its people.
The ongoing conflict has been marked by a week of hostilities triggered by a mass breach by Hamas, resulting in a significant loss of lives on both sides. Israel has vowed to dismantle Hamas, but it maintains that ordinary Palestinians are not their target. The UN reports widespread destruction in Gaza, including over 1,300 damaged buildings and overwhelmed hospitals.
As the situation escalates, the Israeli defense forces have advised Palestinians to evacuate the area in anticipation of a ground offensive against Hamas. Concerns also mount for the safety of hostages, including foreigners, held by Hamas in the wake of the violence.
