Ongoing Encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam District, Security Forces Engage Terrorists
An intense encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, which began last evening, is still ongoing, according to police reports on Friday. As of now, there have been no reported casualties from either side.
Joint Operation by Security Forces
The clash began on Thursday afternoon in the Samno area of the DH Pora region in Kulgam district. This operation involves a coordinated effort from various security branches, including the Army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles, the elite 9 Para special forces unit, the police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The specifics of the operation are still unfolding, and more details are awaited.
Thwarted Infiltration Attempt in Uri Sector
In a separate incident, the Army reported a successful counter-operation on November 15, named ‘Operation Kali’, which thwarted a terrorist infiltration bid along the Line of Control in the Uri Sector. This operation, a collaboration between the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, marks the second such infiltration attempt in the same area.
Key Militant Neutralized
During ‘Operation Kali’, two infiltrators were killed, including Bashir Ahmed Malik, identified as a significant figure in Pakistan-enabled cross-border terrorism activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
These incidents highlight the ongoing security challenges in the region, with forces remaining vigilant against terrorist activities and infiltration attempts. The situation in Kulgam is particularly critical, reflecting the complex security dynamics in Jammu and Kashmir.
