Tragedy struck on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, as a tanker collided with the hillside, resulting in one fatality. The incident occurred near Moud Passi, prompting immediate response from the authorities.

Victim’s Body Shifted for Autopsy as Investigation Unfolds

The Udhampur police reported that the deceased’s body has been transferred to the mortuary of the associated Government Medical College Udhampur for autopsy. A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Reasi District Witnesses Earlier Fatal Accident

This unfortunate incident follows a similar tragedy on February 27 in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, where a van transporting individuals from Reasi to Thub skidded off the road near Thub village, plunging into a deep gorge. Two individuals lost their lives in the accident, and three others sustained injuries. Prompt response from both the police and local residents facilitated the rescue operation, evacuating the injured to the district hospital in Reasi. Regrettably, two of the injured individuals were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The region remains on alert as authorities continue efforts to enhance road safety and minimize such accidents.
