Omar-Abdullah Raises Concerns Over J-K Census Legitimacy, Criticizes BJP’s Performance
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President, Omar Abdullah, expressed apprehensions on Thursday about the ongoing census conducted by the JK police, questioning the legitimacy of the authority overseeing the process.
Addressing a one-day delegate session in the central zone of Jammu, Omar remarked, “The issues faced by the people persist, with households receiving perplexing and demeaning documents. What valid objectives could justify such extensive data collection on residents and its potential implications?” He urged officials to prepare for elections whenever they are scheduled. “Ultimately, the BJP will have to comply with the directives of the Honourable Supreme Court to conduct elections. Once the elections are announced, we will articulate our stance and contrast it with theirs,” he asserted.
Omar further stated that the BJP was masking its failures as successes, pointing out that the current ground reality, characterized by worsening security conditions, unemployment, developmental shortcomings, and administrative inertia, contradicts their assertions.
