NSE Expands Commodity Derivatives Offerings with 13 New Contracts
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has significantly expanded its commodity derivatives segment by introducing 13 new contracts, bringing the total number of products to 28 in this segment. The new contracts include options on futures for various commodities, providing additional risk management tools for market participants.
The 13 new derivatives contracts encompass a wide range of commodities:
- Option on Futures for Copper Futures
- Option on Futures for Zinc Futures
- Option on Futures for Gold Mini Futures
- Option on Futures for Silver Mini Futures
- Option on Futures for Gold 1kg Futures
- Gold Guinea (8 grams) Futures
- Aluminium Futures
- Lead Futures
- Lead Mini Futures
- Nickel Futures
- Zinc Futures
- Zinc Mini Futures
The expansion of commodity derivatives offerings is seen as a positive move by NSE to cater to the diverse risk management needs of market participants. It enables traders to efficiently manage their risk across a wide spectrum of commodities on the NSE platform.
Sriram Krishnan, Chief Business Development Officer at NSE, commented on the development, highlighting the comprehensive range of futures and options products now available in the energy, bullion, and base metals categories. This expanded product range is expected to attract various market participants, including domestic mutual funds and foreign portfolio investors (FPIs).
The NSE has made a concerted effort to streamline the onboarding process for new traders and enhance operational processes, including algorithmic trading approvals, to ensure a seamless and user-friendly experience for market participants. This expansion is reflective of the growing interest in commodity derivatives trading in India.
