Northern Commander Intensifies Anti-Terror Operations in Rajouri-Poonch, Stresses Security Collaboration
The Army’s northern commander, Lieutenant General Upendera Dwivedi, announced on Sunday that decisive measures have been initiated against terrorists in the Rajouri-Poonch region, with a specific emphasis on enhancing collaboration among various security agencies.
Addressing the media during an event in Srinagar, Lt General Dwivedi highlighted the recent economic progress in the Rajouri-Poonch area, citing increased investments and employment opportunities. However, he noted that the neighboring country, displeased with the prevailing peace and prosperity, is actively promoting terrorism in the region. Assuring proactive steps, he stated, “We have already begun taking robust actions, and in the coming days, you will witness a significant improvement in control.”
Emphasizing the sensitivity of the northern border area, the commander remarked on the past year’s achievements, stating, “We declared 2023 as a zero-infiltration year, signifying no incursions from the Line of Control. Among the eliminated terrorists, only 21 were locals, while 55 were of foreign origin. We are actively addressing this issue as well.”
