
No communicable disease Behind Rajouri Deaths Mystry;JK Govt Confirms

The government is closely monitoring the situation in Budhal village, Rajouri, where a mysterious illness has led to 14 deaths, a DIPR statement issued to the press reads,
Toxicological analysis by CSIR-IITR has identified toxins in biological samples, prompting the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the Rajouri Police to probe the deaths further.
The government has implemented various measures, including deploying medical teams, collecting food and water samples, organising medical camps, and conducting door-to-door screenings.
Experts from national institutions, such as NCDC, NIV Pune, and PGI Chandigarh, have also assisted in the investigation.

The statement adds that one child remains in critical condition at SMGS Hospital. “Investigations, including extensive testing of samples in reputed laboratories across the country, have confirmed that the deaths are not caused by any communicable disease, either bacterial or viral. All samples tested negative for such infections.”
Rajouri’s Mysterious Illness Claims another life, Death Toll reaches 14
The first incident was reported on December 7, 2024, when a family of seven fell ill after a community meal, leading to five fatalities. On December 12, another family of nine was affected, with three lives lost.
A third incident occurred on January 12, 2025, when a family of ten became ill after another community meal, with six children requiring hospitalisation.
The Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakina Itoo, along with other cabinet members, visited the affected area and chaired several meetings with health officials and local authorities.
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo has also coordinated with experts, police, and administration to ensure comprehensive investigations and provide proper healthcare to the victims.
