As the Paris 2024 Olympics draw closer, India’s javelin sensation Neeraj Chopra expresses confidence in delivering another stellar performance on the grand stage. Returning from his training base in South Africa, Chopra shares that he feels at his best, emphasizing the distinction between training and actual competition.
Impressive Achievements Post-Tokyo Gold
Following his historic gold medal win at the Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra continued to make waves in the javelin world. Notable achievements include winning a silver medal at the 2022 World Championships and securing gold in the subsequent edition. With a personal best throw of 89.94m, Chopra clinched the 2022 Diamond League title and successfully defended his Asian Games crown in the same year.
Maintaining Momentum for Paris 2024
Chopra acknowledges being in a great space and expresses his intention to carry forward the positive momentum into the Paris 2024 Olympics, starting from May onwards. Despite the pressure of defending his title, Chopra underscores the importance of managing pressure, especially when entering the Games Village, and emphasizes the unique feeling and passion that wearing the India jersey brings.
Preparations and Return to Competition
Commencing his training at the Gloria Sports Arena in Antalya, Turkey, this week, Neeraj Chopra will be accompanied by his coach and biomechanics expert Dr Klaus Bartonietz, along with physio Ishaan Marwaha. Having last competed at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, Chopra is set to make his return at the Doha leg of the 2024 Diamond League season in May, gearing up for the ultimate challenge at the Paris Olympics.*
