Mumbai’s Bandra Worli Sea Link Toll Rates Surge
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation has announced an 18% increase in toll charges for Mumbai’s Bandra Worli Sea Link, effective from April 1. Cars and jeeps will now have to pay Rs 100 for a one-way trip, up from the current Rs 85, while minibus, tempos, and similar vehicles will be charged Rs 160 instead of Rs 130. Two-axle trucks will see their toll rates rise from Rs 175 to Rs 210 for a one-way journey.
Three-Year Increment and Rebate Offer
The new toll rates, which will remain in effect from April 1 to March 31, 2027, mark an increment from the rates set in April 2021. To alleviate the impact on motorists, the MSRDC officials announced a 10% rebate for individuals and a 20% discount on the purchase of toll booklets containing 50 and 100 coupons in advance.
Significance of Bandra Worli Sea Link
The Bandra-Worli Sea Link, inaugurated in 2009, serves as a vital transportation link between Mumbai’s Worli and Bandra districts, offering commuters an alternative route to avoid congestion in Dadar, Mahim, Prabhadevi, and Worli areas. Additionally, the recent inauguration of the Mumbai coastal road, connecting Worli with Marine Drive, aims to further alleviate traffic congestion in the city’s northbound routes, contributing to smoother commuting experiences for residents.
