Mohammad-Aijaz Asad Assumes Key Government Roles after Successful Stint in Srinagar
Mohammad Aijaz Asad has assumed the role of Administrative Secretary to the Government Planning, Development, and Monitoring Department, following the issuance of Government order No. 37-JK(GAD) of 2024 dated 04-01-2024. Simultaneously, he has taken charge as the Administrative Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department and Commissioner of Civil Aviation. This transition comes after Mr. Aijaz Asad’s recent transfer from his position as Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, where he served diligently for three years.
It is noteworthy that Mr. Aijaz Asad has an extensive background, having served as the Deputy Commissioner of six districts in Jammu and Kashmir. His wealth of experience is expected to contribute significantly to his new responsibilities in the Planning Department.
The residents of Srinagar, including members of civil society and prominent organizations, have commended Mr. Aijaz Asad for his commendable work. Farewell meetings organized by various associations were held to bid farewell to the outgoing Deputy Commissioner.
Furthermore, Mr. Aijaz Asad has a remarkable track record, having previously served as the inaugural Managing Director of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation. He earned the title of the “Power-man of Kashmir” for introducing Power Sector reforms in 2020. His leadership ensured a stable power supply in the Kashmir Valley, even during challenging snow spells and harsh winters. This achievement garnered widespread public support, with social media buzzing with the hashtag #Barf aur Bijli, reflecting the public’s positive opinion about the government’s efforts in this regard.
