Meta Platforms Developing Advanced AI System to Compete with OpenAI Image/Reuters
Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, is reportedly working on an artificial intelligence (AI) system that aims to rival OpenAI’s most advanced models, according to sources. The new AI model, expected to be ready in 2024, is intended to be several times more powerful than Meta’s current AI offering, Llama 2, which was launched in July.
Competition in the AI Market
Llama 2 is Meta’s open-source AI language model and is distributed through Microsoft’s Azure cloud services. It competes with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard in the generative AI market. Meta’s planned AI system is expected to be used by other companies to develop services that can generate sophisticated text and perform complex analyses.
Growing Interest in Generative AI
The generative AI market has seen significant interest from businesses and enterprises seeking to enhance their capabilities and streamline processes. OpenAI’s ChatGPT, introduced in late 2022, has contributed to the growing popularity of such AI models. Apple is also reported to be working on similar AI offerings.
