    As the model code of conduct came into force on October 9 in Telangana, authorities have made significant seizures of unaccounted cash and valuables. An astounding Rs 20.43 crore in cash, 31.979 kg of gold, 350 kgs of silver, and a 42.203 carat diamond, with a combined value of Rs 14.65 crore, were confiscated. Additionally, illicit goods such as liquor valued at Rs 86.9 lakh and ganja worth Rs 89 lakh were also seized. Various other items and freebies amounting to Rs 22.51 lakh were recovered.

    Cumulative Seizures Reach Rs 37 Crore

    Since the announcement of the schedule for the Telangana Assembly elections on October 9, up to the present day, the total cumulative value of the seizures has surged to an astonishing Rs 37 crore, according to an official statement issued by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer.

    Central Armed Police Force Deployed

    To maintain law and order and ensure a fair and peaceful election process, 100 companies of the Central Armed Police Force have been deployed in Telangana, with their reporting deadline set for October 20. The state’s police and various enforcement agencies have escalated their efforts to combat illicit money, drugs, liquor, freebies, and other inducements, implementing measures like thorough vehicle checks.
