Major Boost for JJM in J-k:Central Approves Rs 476.71 Cr for 102 Water Schemes, Bringing Water to 54,752 Rural Homes
In a significant boost to the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Jammu and Kashmir, the Central Government has given the green light to 102 new Water Supply Schemes with a total allocation of Rs 476.71 crore.
These schemes aim to extend water coverage to an additional 54,752 rural households in the Union Territory, where Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) were not originally planned when the mission commenced.

The identification of these areas and households took place through various public outreach initiatives such as ‘Back to Village,’ Block Divas, JJM Fortnight, Gram Sabhas, and JJM awareness camps organized by the Department.
During these programs, the public actively participated and advocated for the inclusion of these overlooked areas in the Jal Jeevan Mission.
With the Central Government’s approval of these 102 new schemes, a concerted effort will be made to ensure that every household in the designated areas has access to a tap connection within their premises.
This development underscores the commitment to leaving no household without a reliable water supply as part of the ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission.
