Madhya Pradesh Congress to Release First List of Candidates for Assembly Elections
The Madhya Pradesh Congress is set to release its first list of nearly 130 candidates for the state’s assembly elections on November 17. The list is expected to include Congress state chief Kamal Nath. The Congress is planning to declare the names of candidates for all 230 seats in two lists based on five surveys. The first list has already cleared the names of 15 ex-legislators and nearly 90 sitting MLAs, with Kamal Nath contesting from Chhindwara.
Election Candidate Selection Process
The Congress has conducted multiple surveys to determine its list of candidates. One survey was carried out by poll strategist Sunil Kanugolu on behalf of Rahul Gandhi, while Kamal Nath managed another survey. The central election committee is currently in the process of selecting candidates for the second list.
BJP Announces Candidates
The rival BJP has already announced candidates for 136 assembly seats through four lists. The BJP’s first list of candidates was released on August 17, well in advance of the election date announcement.
